Hey everyone,
We're trying something a little different this year and could use some
extra hands! We're looking for help brainstorming and creating small
decorative displays to liven up the venue. Since our focus has historically
been digital art, we could really use some support from those who enjoy
working with traditional, hands-on mediums. If you have crafting
experience—especially anything related to stage/scene dressing, prop
making, or just general DIY creativity—we’d love to hear from you!
Specifically, we’re looking to build some large prop blocks/bricks to
complement this year's "Building Together" theme. If you've seen the
artwork, you'll recognize the familiar block style. The idea is to create a
few different displays featuring large blocks in front of a graphic of Troy
building with blocks, placed in high-traffic areas to add depth and make
the space feel less bare.
How You Can Help:
1. Material Suggestions – We want to make these as easy, inexpensive, and
decent-looking as possible. The current idea is:
Cardboard (box structure)
Wide cardboard tubes or other inexpensive cylinders (for the "pegs")
Wrapping paper (solid colors)
Glue/tape as needed
If you have better material suggestions, let us know!
2. Hands-On Help – If you’re willing to help build these on-site, that
would be amazing! We’re thinking a total of about a dozen blocks, so not a
huge lift, but enough to make an impact.
If this works well, we’d love to expand the idea in future years with more
planning and creativity. Of course, one challenge is that these won’t be
super durable and may get moved or mistreated, so if anyone has thoughts on
minimizing that risk, we're all ears!
Let me know if you're interested, have feedback, or can lend a hand. Any
help—big or small—is appreciated!
Thanks!
